Koolulam is an Israeli phenomenon

Founded on the premise that music and creativity can unite people from diverse backgrounds and beliefs, Koolulam has a mission: to spread joy and unity through song. Termed a ‘musical social initiative’, the Israeli enterprise brings thousands of people together to create a musical sensation through the shared experience of singing with both strangers and friends.

FAQ & important information about the event

Are children under the age of 12 permitted at the event?

Koolulam is a program designed for young teens and adults. Given the length and nature of the event, participants should be able to read and be comfortable and capable of taking direction from the Koolulam staff. While children under the age of 12 are permitted, provided they are registered with a ticket, the program is designed for those 12 years and older.

I did not purchase tickets for children under 12. Is it possible to still get tickets for them?

Our event is sold out. However, we still have limited seats available which we are reserving for families that are already registered. They will be available on a first come, first served basis. Please contact Julie Gonik at jgonik@ujafed.org if you would like to purchase additional tickets.

Koolulam will be filming this event for use on social media, in newsletters and on websites. Everyone in attendance may end up in this video (take a look at the crowd shots in the videos linked below), so be sure to smile while singing!

Only people who are comfortable with being filmed and (possibly) appearing in this video should register for this event.

In Recognition of the 70-year bond between Israel and Toronto, the President of Israel is coming too

One of Koolulam’s biggest fans is Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, who is coming to Toronto to sing with us when Koolulam makes it first Canadian appearance in April. President Rivlin joined over 12,000 Israelis in singing Naomi Shemer’s classic Hebrew song “Al Kol Eleh” in Tel Aviv last April, in celebration of Israel’s 70th Independence Day.

Check out the video below and see what you have to look forward to:

The Toronto experience will be awesome

This April, the entire Toronto Jewish community gets to be part of this unique musical experience when Koolulam leads us in the singing of Matisyahu’s hit “One Day.” * It’s the same song Koolulam orchestrated for 3,000 Christians, Jews and Muslims, who sang this beautiful anthem of hope and peace together in Haifa in February 2018.

It’s the haunting prayer for harmony and understanding sung at the vigil for the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh in October 2018.
