A Temple Sinai Program: Dõna Gracia, A Superhero from Long Ago - Dialogue with author Marilyn Froggatt and Rabbi Michael Dolgin
Monday, March 8 at 2.00 p.m.
Join us on International Woman's Day to hear the story of an extraordinary 16th-century Jewish woman who was virtually forgotten for over 500 years but is now being honoured around the world.
Author Marilyn Froggatt brings to life the dramatic story of Doña Gracia Nasi, born in Portugal in 1510 into a Sephardic Jewish family forced to pose as Christians to survive the brutal Inquisition. She discovered her family was secretly Jewish in her teens, promising her dying mother that she would live according to Judaic traditions and do all she could to help other secret Jews escape persecution. She kept that perilous promise for the rest of her life.
An inspiring and interesting program for all ages, open to Temple Sinai members and friends. The book is available on Amazon.ca. For more information and to register visit us at www.templesinai.net, email programs@templesinai.net or call 416-487-4161.
