This listing reflects funding opportunities available through Jewish organizations, foundations, groups and educational institutions in the Greater Toronto Area. Many of the scholarships support studying in Israel. You will also find grants for post-secondary education in Canada and the U.S. as well as useful websites noting other sources of potential funding.

Schulich Leader Scholarships (Israel) | מלגת מנהיגי שוליך
Schulich Leader Scholarships are undergraduate entrance scholarships for entrepreneurial-minded students enrolling in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs at 5 participating Israeli universities. Nominees attain eligibility with reference letters of leadership, academic excellence or financial need. Upon verification of eligibility, Nominees can go on to apply at any of the five universities that distribute ten scholarships each. 
*Nominees must be Israeli citizens and are non-denominational.

Given annually to a graduate or undergraduate student who has demonstrated interest in Holocaust studies by virtue of course work or research projects. The award may be used for study in Israel and is based on financial need.

 

- Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University OSOTF Scholarships
Given annually to one or more York graduate or undergraduate students in any area of study for full-time, semester, or summer study at Hebrew University.  The value of the award is based on financial need. Limited to Ontario residents; must show financial need.

 

- Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University OSOTF Scholarships (incorporating the Berdie and Irvin Cohen Award, the Vera Dolly Denty Award, the Marnie Kimelman Award, and the Louis Manpel Award)  


Given annually to one or more York graduate or undergraduate students in any area of study for full-time, semester, or summer study at Tel Aviv University.  The value of the awards is based on financial need.

 

- Esther Sarick OSOTF Bursaries in Jewish Education and the Arts
Given annually to assist graduate & undergraduate students in the York University archeological field study course in Israel.  Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

- Gertrude and Jack Friedman Memorial Award
Given annually to assist a York University student in Jewish Studies, preferably a graduate student, to pursue a program of study and/or research at an Israeli university.  In the event that in any year no suitable graduate candidate applies, the award may be given to an outstanding undergraduate in the field of Jewish Studies or Jewish Teacher Education.  

 

- Hebrew University Scholarship
Given annually to a York Student for one year's full time study at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.  The value of the award is tuition and room. Preference is given to students currently enrolled at York in Jewish Studies; especially Jewish Teacher Education.

 

- Leonard Wolinsky Scholarships
Given annually to two York undergraduates for one year’s full-time study in an Israeli university.  Preference is given to students currently enrolled at York in Jewish Studies; especially Jewish Teacher Education.


- Leonard Wolinsky OSOTF Scholarships
Given annually to one or more York undergraduate or graduate students for one year's full-time study at an Israeli University.  The award is based on financial need. 

 

- Silber/Frieberg OSOTF Scholarships
